Information about debts and living allowance

During your application, we ask questions about debt support and living allowance. These questions are important to assess your income correctly.

Why do we ask this?

Are you in a debt support process? Then you may not be able to use your full income yourself.

For example, part of your income may be used to pay off debts. In some cases, you receive living allowance on a separate bank account.

Living allowance is the amount you can use yourself for daily costs. For example, groceries, personal care and other necessary expenses.

Are you in debt support or a debt support process?

Answer this question with yes if you are in a debt support process. For example, through the municipality, a debt support worker, budget manager or legal administrator.

Answer this question with no if this does not apply to you.

Do you have a living allowance account?

If you answer the first question with yes, we will then ask if you have a living allowance account.

A living allowance account is the bank account you use for your living allowance. This is usually the account you use to pay your daily expenses.

Do you have a living allowance account? Choose yes.

Do you not have a living allowance account? Choose no.

Which bank account should I connect?

Do you have a living allowance account? Then connect the bank account you use for your living allowance.

This account is used to assess your financial situation.

Do you not have a living allowance account? Then we look at your income and at your monthly debt repayments. This way, we can take into account the part of your income that you cannot freely use because of your debt support process.

Important

Do not connect someone else’s bank account. This means you should not connect the account of your legal administrator, budget manager or debt support worker.

Only connect a bank account that is in your own name and that you use yourself.
